The Grid as a Design DeviceTake one of your cropped small dot designs from the previous problem. Select the whole piece... Select>Select All. Copy it (edit>copy) or (Ctrl-C) Now create a larger canvas in an exact multiple say 300, 400, 500 or 600 percent. Image>Canvas Size... change the drop down dimension to percent Enter the amount in percent, click ok.
Here is a 400 percent enlargement of the original module, pasted 15 more times for a total of 16 units laid out in a straight, repeat pattern.

Again, notice the interesting relationship between the positive and negative space... Do you see new relationships or visual connections you could not have predicted? Create at least 4 distincly different designs using different modules and different grid dimensions. Arrange one design per page and print them out... add these prints to your design portfolio. |
